Château de Tanlay

Castles and Defense Sites

2, Grande rue Basse
89430 TANLAY

Surrounded by moats, in a very beautiful park, it is one of the most beautiful Renaissance residences in Bourgogne. Built in the 1705th and XNUMXth centuries, it belonged to the Coligny family and was, at the time of the Wars of Religion, an important meeting place for Huguenot leaders. Particelli d'Hemery, superintendent of finances close to Cardinal Mazarin, completed the work of the Colignys by creating the current beautiful ensemble, assisted by the famous architect Le Muet. Property of the family of the Marquis de Tanlay from XNUMX to the present day, they completed the very rich interior decoration. The trompe-l'oeil room and the tower of the League, with its surprising frescoes, are particularly interesting.
