The Dionne Pit
Rémé, travel advisor, CCLTB tourist tax representative, responsible for labeling, marketing and observatoryThe first time I saw the Dionne pit, it was love at first sight. Its name, Fons Divona, immediately intrigued me. It evokes a distant era, that of the Gallic goddess of springs, and I felt that there was something special, almost sacred in this place. The waters of the pit are fascinating, they change constantly. Sometimes they are clear, sometimes cloudy, going from blue to green, from turquoise to emerald, everything depends on the light, the time of day, the season. It is a spectacle that captivates me every time I visit. What also impresses me is the setting. The washhouse, the stones around it, everything seems frozen in time, as if history were still there, present, at every corner of the pit. When I climb the rampart and look at the pit from above, I have this strange feeling that the water is looking at me too. It is such deep and calm water, almost hypnotic. There is something mysterious and timeless about it.
